My Uncle in the Papers

So my Uncle Todd found his way into the newspaper the other week...

Regina has ultimate taste for the Stones
Pamela Cowan, Leader-Post (Regina)
Published: Thursday, October 05, 2006

Tongues are wagging all over Regina about the Rolling Stones.

At the corner of Thornton Avenue and Rae Street, Todd Apperley has constructed a giant hand-drawn tongue, which is flanked by the Union Jack and Canada's flag and is lit by a spotlight at night

Apperley began tooling the tongue a month ago. He hopes it will entice "some nice mates from across the pond" to drop over to his Lakeview home, sign his tongue tribute and share a few beers in his backyard.

If Apperley's wish comes true, he plans to donate the sign to the Children's Wish Foundation so they can raffle it to raise money for kids.

"I love the Stones," Apperley said Wednesday afternoon.

No kidding.

He's painted the Stones' signature tongue on his cap, shirt and jacket and his cell phone rings to his favourite song, "Start Me Up."

"I think I've lost my mind -- at least that's what people say, but it's once in a lifetime for Regina and you know, the boys are getting older," Apperley said.

He admires the Stones' endurance in spite of their struggles with drugs and booze.

"The whole meaning of rock and roll is what they put forward," he said. "Now they're trying to stay clean and get on with their lives and put out good music. It's just fantastic!"

A framer and house painter by trade, Apperley was between jobs when the band's setup crew rolled into town. Satisfaction came after he made 20 phone calls to track down who to talk to about being hired to set up the massive stage.

"The timing was just perfect," said the 39-year-old. "I've never ever done anything this big before. When we're watching the show, I can say, 'Hey, I helped build that.'

"I don't think Regina realized how big it was going to be but now that I'm helping to set up the stage -- get your tickets and get out there because it's just going to be rank!"

His partner, Lorrie McNeill, bought the Union Jack flag at a garage sale last weekend.

Although she's more restrained about her allegiance to the Stones, McNeill is excited about attending Friday's show.

"I think it's awesome for Regina," she said. "It's a chance in a lifetime for people who haven't seen them. I saw them once about 20 years ago in Calgary but they were younger then. I can't imagine what they'll do now."

Stones fever is everywhere, said Mayor Pat Fiacco.

"You just have to look around and you can tell that people are excited everywhere ... Some of the display windows that we're seeing in some of the stores and the signs that are out there -- it's fun stuff," he said.

Thousands more tongues, even tie-dyed ones, are hanging out at Vintage Vinyl & Hemp Emporium on 11th Avenue.

The 5,000-square-foot store features the Stones trademark on baseball caps, cowboy hats, toques, bunnyhugs, T-shirts, ashtrays, cufflinks, wall clocks and alarm clocks. Just inside the door are Stones LPs and tons of T-shirts are everywhere.

"We have 5,000 different T-shirts to choose from," said owner Pat Baumet. "We have the largest selection in Canada. If you wanted to count all our T-shirts, we probably have 50,000 to 60,000."

Jammed on racks in the vanilla-incense-filled shop are tongues on short and long sleeve shirts, sports jerseys and "girlie-styled hoodies." Plain classic tongue shirts vie for attention among flashier numbers with liquid and tie-dyed tongues. The mind-numbing selection of shirts also marks the Stones' many tours.

"We have a very unique shirt here that's a Canadian tour shirt and it's got a moose with the Canadian Maple Leaf on the tongue," Baumet said. "The demand has been there since they announced the show and a lot of roadies that are in town to set up the stage have been very impressed with the selection we've got here."

Baumet is also sending a written invitation to the Stones.

"We hope they want to come down and have a personal tour with the doors closed," he said. "Burton Cummings was here for the first Rock 'n the Valley. He came in with his road manager and about three days later he had his wife fly in to shop here ... She absolutely loved our tie-dyed dresses. She bought four or five of them as well as a lot of other tie-dyed stuff."

Expecting a crush of customers, Baumet plans to extend his weekend hours and pledges to "stay open all night Saturday to accommodate fans."

Regina gets Stoned
Saskatchewan set to prove that it rocks

Stones fan Todd Apperley hopes band autographs his Regina yard sign to raise money for charity

Without doubt, it's the biggest entertainment spectacle ever to hit Saskatchewan.

This Thanksgiving weekend, Regina will host not just one, but two sold-out shows by "the greatest rock 'n' roll band in the world," the Rolling Stones.

Some 90,000 people in total will pour into Mosaic Stadium, the home of the Roughriders, tomorrow night and Sunday to watch Mick Jagger and his invincible cohort Keith Richards put the band through its paces.

Everything about the Stones tour is larger than life. The stage construction is eight storeys high and takes a crew of 400 people to build. To move it requires the services of 80 semi-trailers. During the course of the concert, it's expected that the fans will drink the equivalent of 360,000 beers.

In the spirit of the party atmosphere, the provincial liquor authority has decided to allow the bars to stay open an hour later, so last call will be at 3 a.m. and closing will be at 4 a.m.
document.

The city has suspended its noise bylaw temporarily to accommodate the crews if they have to work through the night to get the massive stage ready on time. The biggest controversy surrounding accommodations for the erstwhile Bad Boys of Rock seems to be whether Richards will be allowed to smoke on stage.

This kind of accommodation is not unusual where big events in Saskatchewan are concerned, whether it's a Grey Cup or any of a number of Briers.

But the significance of this event is much greater. Elton John has played Saskatchewan, but that didn't change the place. Cher came and went, but the Earth didn't move.

This time it's different. The Stones concerts are taking on mythic proportions in the Saskatchewan psyche. It is seen here as a coming of age for a province where disappointment is always just around the corner.

This time, victory is at hand.

Saskatchewan is the only prairie province where the Stones have never played. This year, Regina is one of only three stops on the Stones' Canadian tour, along with Halifax and Vancouver. And it's the only stop on the fall leg of their Bigger Bang tour where the band is playing twice.

The Stones' interest in playing before audiences that have never had the opportunity to see them before has been repaid in full by their prairie fans.

While it took a full day to sell out the Vancouver show, Regina sold out in 20 minutes. When the band added a second show, the tickets were gone in an hour. Obviously, there is a pent-up demand for the Stones here, but it's more than that. This event taps into two big undercurrents in Saskatchewan culture.

One is the conviction that given the opportunity, this province can compete with any jurisdiction in the country. The other is the tribal nature of the province. Outside of Newfoundland, perhaps, there is no other province in the land that has so many expatriates scattered across the country, nor any so proud of their roots.

You need only look at the national fan base for the Saskatchewan Roughriders for proof of that. So as the leaders of the biggest tribe of fans in the world, the Stones are the perfect fit for Saskatchewan.

Regina mayor Pat Fiacco says "it is pretty amazing, but it's about time, don't you think?"
Fiacco notes that unlike Toronto, Vancouver or Montreal, a big occasion in Saskatchewan does not get lost in the competition for attention with other events. The whole province hears about it and gets behind it.

Aside from the obvious windfall for hotels and restaurants over Thanksgiving, the Stones shows will also bring international attention to the province, making it a potential stop for other major entertainment events. When the excitement from this is over, Fiacco says the city intends to start promoting the football stadium as a venue for other big shows.

"We all know this is a place that can support such an event but those who are doing it nationally have to give us a chance," Fiacco said in an interview.

Of course, no event of this size is without a political element. Premier Lorne Calvert is hoping this sends a message to those who might be thinking of leaving the province.

"It's that intangible that says, particularly to the young person, that this is the place to be, that things happen here," Calvert said in an interview. It also fits nicely into the government's effort to boost the music industry here. The province and the four largest cities embarked on a strategy some time ago to attract all the major music awards shows to Saskatchewan.

Over the course of the next year, Saskatchewan will host four major musical events including the Junos, the Canadian Country Music Awards, the Western Canadian Music Awards and the yet-to-be-announced Aboriginal Music Awards.

It was at this year's Juno awards that Calvert met with Stones promoter Donald K. Donald and got the ball rolling on bringing the band to Saskatchewan.

Naturally the premier will be on hand for the show, wearing "something warm."

Ron Waldman, president and CEO of Great Western Breweries, who beat out both Molson and Labatt for the right to sell beer at the shows, says the weekend will cause people from outside the province to take a fresh look at what's going on here.

"I think it's a situation where we're saying to the world, 'you're all invited. But the party's happenin' here'."

Song of the Week

"Fall to Pieces"- Avril Lavigne

I looked away
Then I look back at you
You try to say
The things that you can't undo
If I had my way
I'd never get over you
Today's the day
I pray that we make it through

Make it through the fall
Make it through it all

[Chorus:]
And I don't wanna fall to pieces
I just want to sit and stare at you
I don't want to talk about it
And I don't want a conversation
I just want to cry in front of you
I don't want to talk about it
Cuz I'm in Love With you

You're the only one,
I'd be with till the end
When I come undone
You bring me back again
Back under the stars
Back into your arms

[Chorus]

Wanna know who you are
Wanna know where to start
I wanna know what this means

Wanna know how you feel
Wanna know what is real
I wanna know everything, everything

[Chorus without last line]

[Chorus]

I'm in love with you
Cuz i'm in love with you
I'm in love with you
I'm in love with you

Quote of the Day

"Here is the most valuable 'insider's tip' I can come up with: Before declaring your affection in blind hope that she may return it, get to know who she really is. This sounds cliche, but I really mean it. It has been my experience that crushes are often based on an idea of a person, not on who the person actually is. We tend to idealize those we are interested in. I'll let you in on something: I want to be loved for who I am, not who you think I am or want me to be. I am pretty sure this is one of the few bits of advice that is going to apply to all women across the spectrum." - Lisa Laplante

Cadbury Commercial Part 2

Some totally disturbing news... there is more than one of the "wouldn't it be nice" commercials.... These things apparently aired down in Austrailia before coming to Canada and as best as I can tell there are 6 of them.

Lyrics:

Lyrics for Part One - The Surfing Surfer
Wouldn't it be nice if the world were Cadbury?
You could surf inside a chocolate tube
Ride your board across the wave forever
Get wiped out and never get a bruise
And if a shark came up and tried to bite you
You could say 'I'm chocolate - I invite you'
Wouldn't it be nice?

Lyrics for Part Two - Postal madness
Wouldn't it be nice if the world were Cadbury?
Chocolate roads and trees and birds and bees
Delivering all kinds of letters daily,
Every kind of purple parcel too.
And if the dog did try and grab a mouthful,
You could bite him back he'd taste delightful!
Wouldn't it be nice?

Lyrics for Part Three - Soccer superstar
Wouldn't it be nice if the world were Cadbury?
You could be a soccer super star.
The referee would blow his chocolate whistle,
A shot a goal would even break the bar.
And if you scored the winner
You could have the cup for your dinner.
Wouldn't it be nice?

Lyrics for Part Four (July 2003) - Family holiday
Wouldn't it be nice if the world were Cadbury?
Riding in the car would be a tasty treat.
Changing gears would soon become a problem
Cadbury dairy milk is so good to eat
When you arrive at your destination,
You'll be greeted with an exclamation!
Wouldn't it be nice?

Lyrics for Part Five (April 2005) - Maze crazy
Wouldn't it be nice if the world were Cadbury?
You could play inside a chocolate maze.
Run around and round to reach the middle
What a big surprise for you awaits.
If you couldn't find your way to freedom,
No need to run, just face the walls and eat 'em!
Wouldn't it be nice?

Lyrics for Part Six (August 2005) - At the movies
Wouldn't it be nice if the world was Cadbury?
Going to the pics would so sweet
There'd be no need for munchies
Cadbury dairy milk is the perfect treat
If someone came and blocked your screen view
Just take a bite and make a hole to see through
Wouldn't it be nice?

Cadbury Commercial

Alright so here you have it, it's either the best or worst commercial of all times. I hate it because it gets stuck in my head and I hate that the kid wiggles his butt and invites the shark to bite it. But it's a great campaign because it gets stuck in my head and makes me want chocolate.

Lyrics: (which are btw a parody of "Wouldn't it be Nice" by the Beach Boys)

Wouldn't it be nice if the world were Cadbury?
You could surf inside a chocolate tube
Ride your board across the wave forever
Get wiped out and never get a bruise
And if a shark came up and tried to bite you
You could say 'I'm chocolate - I invite you'
Wouldn't it be nice?

Hamsters Part 15

A few oversights, over the past few months I've backposted most of my blogs and I forgot to mention a few details that would make the story about Hedgehog'd death make sense.

About a month and a half ago we realized that Hedgehog was in fact a girl and not a boy as was previously thought, we realized this because she became pregnant and had babies. The babies were cannibablized by either mom or one of the two dads, still not sure on that one, so we decided to moved Hedgehog out of the cage with the boys so this wouldn't happen again and into the cage with the girls.

I got the hamsters new furniture while I was home in Ontario (from the 20th of Aug to the 10th of Sept), a living room set for the girls' cage and a car for the boys cage.

I traded up the cages so that the girls have their living room set in the gigi cage, the boys' had their car & house (or garage lol) in the playground cage, Kus had the safari cage and Mouse had the space cage. I did this shortly after I cam back, and and that is when we switched Hedgehog into the girls' cage. The hamsters fought a bit but nothing too serious, as they all always fight, so I thought nothing of it.

I've cleaned cages once or twice since then, and again nothing terrible had seemed to be going on and then the death. So I'm really not too sure what happened there.

I've cleaned cages once since then

Song of the Week

"Wild One" - Faith Hill

They said change your clothes
She said no I wont
They said comb your hair
She said some kids dont
And her parents dreams went up in smoke

They said you cant leave
She said yes I will
They said dont see him
She said his name is bill
Shes on a roll and its all uphill

Shes a wild one
With an angels face
Shes a woman-child
In a state of grace
When she was 3 years old on her daddys knee
He said you can be anything you want to be
Shes a wild one
Runnin free

She loves rock and roll
They said its satans tongue
She thinks theyre too old
They think shes too young
And the battle lines are clearly drawn

Shes a wild one
With an angels face
Shes a woman-child
In a state of grace
When she was 3 years old on her daddys knee
He said you can be anything you want to be
Shes a wild one
Runnin free

She has future plans and dreams at night
When they tell her life is hard she says thats alright

Shes a wild one
With an angels face
Shes a woman-child
In a state of grace
When she was 3 years old on her daddys knee
He said you can be anything you want to be
Shes a wild one
Runnin free

Hamsters Part 14

In a shocking turn of events the hamsters have turned to cannibalism!

I went to clean the cages today and there were only 3 hamsters in the girls cage. I couldn't bring myself to dig through the bedding to find the dead body, that I thought I would inevitably find, on my own so I had Mark come over to do it for me.

After much searching in the cage he found bones and a bit of fur, the only remains of Hedgehog.

Apparently they fighting that has been going on for the past few weeks has been more that "just a little fighting". I'm not sure when exactly it happened. For sure there were four hamsters in the cage on Tuesday, but that was the last time I honestly took a good look. A friend of mine suggested if the corpse has been there, having died from natural causes, the hamsters may have eaten it in order to keep their environment clean.

I'd like to think that was the scenario, that I simply did not remove the corpse quickly enough, and not the alternative that the other hamsters ganged up on, killled and ate one of their own.

Some People shouldn't be allowed to have kids...

Hello Baby ESPN: Father Names Son After Sports Network
2006-10-07 15:07:02 GMT
Nicole King - All Headline News Staff Writer

Biloxi, MS (AHN) - Even the nurses couldn't believe it. A Mississippi couple named their newborn son ESPN after the sports network.

ESPN Montana Real was born this week at Biloxi Regional Medical Center. ESPN's (pronounced Espen) mother, Leann Real promised her husband if they ever had a son, he would get to pick the name. Rusty Real is an avid sports fan.

The Montana in baby ESPN's name comes from football great Joe Montana. And baby ESPN isn't alone with his unusual name. There are at least three other ESPNs in the world according to a 2005 report from tivocommunity.com.

iTunes Library Updater

Found a little app that might be of interest to people wh, like me, enjoy some of the features of iTunes but hate others. I personally love that it will tell me how many days worth of music I have stored on my computer (currently 27.3!!!) but I hate that it doesn't sync with my computer as well as it does with my iPod.

A solution!

This program allows you to pick folders you essentially want to sync with iTunes, it automatically deletes dead links in iTunes and puts in songs that haven't been added. Very helpful. :)

The Church of Google

Well here's blasphemy at it's finest. Someone has decided that Google is a god (note the small g) that deserves it's own church, you gotta know someone is going to hell for this...

Here's the main statement from the website:

"We at the Church of Google believe a convincing argument can be made stating that the search engine Google is the closest mankind has ever come to directly experiencing an actual God (as typically defined). Supernatural gods are rejected on the notion they are inherently unprovable. Thus, Googlists believe Google should rightfully be given the title of "God", as She exhibits a great many of the characteristics traditionally associated with such Deities.

Gods are typically defined by their unique attributes, such as being all-knowing, all-seeing, ever present, the ability to answer prayers, being immortal, remembering all, and of course Deities must "do no evil". Google exhibits all of these characteristics perfectly. In the absence of imaginary, supernatural beings, Google is certainly the closest thing humankind has to a true God.

Googlists do not believe in the supernatural. We believe virtually all "gods" before Google were purely based on man made, fictional beings. We do not claim Google is supernatural in any way. She, like all other gods before Her, is the creation of man. No faith is required to believe in Her, for we consider the concept of belief without evidence (faith) to be of the utmost intellectual laziness."

Rogers saying 9 11

I called up Rogers today and the man was explaining my cell phone bill to me... he says "oh and there's the nine eleven charge on here."

How weird is that... he meant the 9-1-1 charge, as in the number to call police, but I wonder if that's what people now think of 9-11 as, a reason to call police.

Odd.

"I Just Wanna Be Mad" - Terri Clark

Last night we went to bed not talkin,
cause wed already said too muh.
I faced the wall, you faced the window.
Bound and determined not to touch.

Weve been married seven years now.
Sometimes it feels like 21.
Im still mad at you this mornin.
Coffees ready if you want some.
Ive been up since five, thinkin bout me and you.
And Ive got to tell you the conclusion Ive come to.

Ill never leave, Ill never stray.
My love for you will never change.
But I aint ready to make up.
Well get around to that.
I think Im right, I think youre wrong.
Ill probly give in before long.
Please dont make me smile.
I just wanna be mad for a while.

Well, now you might as well forget it.
Dont run your fingers through my hair.
Yeah, thats right, Im bein stubborn.
No, I dont wanna go back upstairs.
Im gonna leave for work without a goodbye kiss.
But as Im drivin off, just remember this.

Ill never leave, Ill never stray.
My love for you will never change.
But I aint ready to make up.
Well get around to that.
I think Im right, I think youre wrong.
Ill probly give in before long.
Please dont make me smile.
I just wanna be mad for a while.

Ill never leave, Ill never stray.
My love for you will never change.
But I aint ready to make up.
Well get around to that.
I think Im right, I think youre wrong.
Ill probly give in before long.

I just wanna be mad for a while.

Left Behind Series

I'm re-reading the Left Behind series by Tim LaHaye & Jerry Jenkis, well I'm re-reading the first 8 books and I've ordered the rest of the series (15 in all). I started them back when I was 16 but the guy I was dating (who owned the books) and I broke up when I was 20 or so and the series wasn't finished coming out yet so I never finished it then, so I've gotten them all now and am diligently working through it. Book four so far!

So what is Left Behind? Well it's a series of books about the Evangelical Christian view of God's rapture of his church and the tribulation period that follows that even before the Glorious Appearing of Christ.

They have made a companion set of books called Tribulation Kids that are junior reader books, there is also a series of comic books and thus far 3 feature length movies that loosely cover the events of the first 3 books (with many artisitc liberties.)

Official website:
http://www.leftbehind.com/

"Left Behind is a series of novels by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, dealing with Christian dispensationalist End Times: pretribulation, premillennial, Christian eschatology viewpoint of the end of the world. Left Behind is also the title of the first book in the series. It is published by Tyndale House, a firm with a history of interest in dispensationalism." - Wikipedia

sofa king good

"Sofa King is a double entendre used as a gag name for a furniture store specializing in sofas. The name came to prominence in a 2000 Mancow Muller radio show, where the radio personality played a hoax ad, described the store as being "Sofa King great" and having prices that were "Sofa King low". Phrases like these were obviously intended to sound like "so f**king great" and "so f**king low", resulting in a January 18, 2000 complaint being filed against Mancow with the Federal Communications Commission. The complaint was dismissed." - Wikipdedia

First day on my own :)

My roomies moved out today and thus I embark on tha adventure that is living on my own.

This is the first time in my life that I have had no one living with me!!

Foreseeable problems:
- Boredom
- No one to change lightbulbs
- No one to take care of me if I get sick

Advantages:

Horoscopes & MSN

The msn article today was entitled "The Truth Behind Horoscopes". I opened it thinking, oh good here's a piece about the thought that goes into horoscopes, maybe a fresh perspective on horoscopes... at the very least a few thoughts about why I should read them... The tag line promised to at least let me know if I should waste my time so I figued at least that question would be answered... how wrong I was!

Now you have to understand I'm only frustrated because they wrote common knowledge into an article, with typos I might add, and then promoted it as the article to read to gain insight into the worth of reading horoscopes, on the hotmail/msn site. I feel totally jipped and that I wasted my time.

I've highlighted the "relevent" sections of this article, by reading the highlights you'll get the full summary of what this article speaks of... all common sense!

Here's the article:

The Truth Behind Horoscopes
Horoscopes promise to predict how our day will go, but are they really worth reading?
by Krisztina Virag, TheSoko.com

Whether flipping through the daily while riding the subway or browsing the life section online, studies say three out of every four people who look at a paper check out their horoscope.

I guess I'd be person number four. But when I'm feeling uncertain, or questioning something in my life, I too sit down and look up my daily horoscope.

Do I necessarily believe my horoscope is true, or that the planets are responsible for what happens to me? Um, no. With all this confusion surrounding the valid title of Pluto, who can have much confidence in astrology?

Two Sides to the Story
Experts and non-experts alike have strong opinions about the validity of horoscopes. The believers think that though horoscopes are vague enough to allow for many interpretations, the stars are indeed responsible for the decisions we make each day.

Some of these believers hold the moon most responsible. They say its effect on ocean tides applies to the human body as well in that it affects fluid retention, which alters our judgment.

On another side of the debate is a group that supports horoscopes, but does not necessarily find them vital or super accurate. For this group, horoscopes are like fortune cookies--their validity is dependent upon whether we believe in them, and not on the paths of the stars.

The power of suggestion is strong. Many people unconsciously think about the normal stuff they go through every day in such a way that it aligns with their horoscope.

A Tool to Deflect the Blame
Magic or not, the US Committee for Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal has had its share of debate surrounding horoscopes. A spokesman for the committee found that horoscopes serve as a scapegoat for many who read them.

If you believe in your horoscope, the blame for a bad decision falls upon the unfavorable celestial alignment of the stars, rather then faults within the your actions or character. It's handy to have something out of your control to rail against when things just aren't going your way.

Even though there are countless 'experts' who discredit horoscopes, the public seems not to listen. Internet statistics show that the word 'horoscope' is one of the top most popular searches, just below 'porn' but ahead of 'ebay'.

Entertainment or Advice?
Antoinette Trusel, a California-based astrologist, says she hopes people read their horoscopes purely for entertainment, and that no one is basing important decisions on what their daily blurb tells them to do.

Particularly female teenagers, whose lives are filled with what they deem to be dramatic events and questions--to which horoscopes seem to have the hidden answers--tend to read their horoscopes devotedly. Some teens take their horoscope pretty seriously, even making it a part of their morning ritual.

salt your morning paper well
The experts, regardless of whether they are believers or non-believers, do have one bit of common advice: take your horoscope with a grain of salt.

Those with more experience in life than others know to take horoscopes for what they probably are--the daily creations of astrologers who are very talented creative writers.

Each of us needs to decide for ourselves whether horoscopes are legitimate. I for one will continue to read my horoscope at the end of the night--when karma has already taken care of my day.

Song of the Week

THE SCOTSMAN'S SONG

Well a Scotsman clad in kilt left the bar one evening fair And one could tell by how he walked that he'd drunk more than his share He fumbled round until he could no longer keep his feet And he stumbled off into the grass to sleep beside the street.

Ring-ding diddle diddle aye-dee-oh Ring di-diddle-aye-oh He stumbled off into the grass to sleep beside the street.

About that time two young and lovely girls just happened by One says to the other, with a twinkle in her eye "See yon sleeping Scotsman, so strong and handsome built? I wonder if it's true what they don't wear beneath the kilt."

Ring-ding diddle diddle aye-dee-oh Ring di-diddlee-aye-oh "I wonder if it's true what they don't wear beneath the kilt."

They crept up on that sleeping Scotsman, quiet as could be Lifted up his kilt about an inch so they could see And there behold for them to view, beneath his Scottish skirt, Was nothing more than God had graced him with upon his birth.

Ring-ding diddle diddle aye-dee-oh Ring di-diddlee-aye-oh Was nothing more than God had graced him with upon his birth.

They marveled for a moment then one said, "We must be gone. Let's leave a present for our friend before we move along." As a gift, they left a blue silk ribbon tied into a bow Around the bonnie star the Scot's kilt did lift and show.

Ring-ding diddle diddle aye-dee-oh Ring di-diddlee-aye-oh Around the bonnie star the Scot's kilt did lift and show.

Now the Scotsman woke to nature's call And stumbled towards a treeBehind the bush he lifts his kilt and gawks at what he sees And in a startled voice, he said to what's before his eyes "Lad, I don't know where ye been, but I see ye won first prize!"

Ring-ding diddle diddle aye-dee-oh Ring di-diddlee-aye-oh "Lad, I don't know where ye been, but I see ye won first prize!

Advice to Live By...

I got this in a fwd, it's something I've read before, as I'm sure many of you have. I think it's the best bit of advice though and I wnted to share it all with you.

Read Each One Carefully and Think About It a Second.

1. I love you not because of who you are, but because of who I am when I am with you.

2. No man or woman is worth your tears, and the one who is, won't make you cry.

3. Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.

4. A true friend is someone who reaches for your hand and touches your heart.

5. The worst way to miss someone is to be sitting right beside them knowing you can't have them.

6. Never frown, even when you are sad, because you never know who is falling in love with your smile.

7. To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.

8. Don't waste your time on a man/woman, who isn't willing to waste their time on you.

9. Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one, so that when we finally meet the person, we will know how to be grateful.

10. Don't cry because it is over, smile because it happened.

11. There's always going to be people that hurt you so what you have to do is keep on trusting and just be more careful about who you trust next time around.

12. Make yourself a better person and know who you are before you try and know someone else and expect them to know you.

13. Don't try so hard, the best things come when you least expect them to.

14. Whatever happens, happens for a reason.

Happy September 30th!!!

Hey all,
I know I haven't posted as much or as often as I should. You'd be amazed how many drafts of blogs I have in my account. I'll be getting around to posting them all in the next week or so. Life's been crazy around here, two roomies moving out, switching shifts at work and all the other daily activities have made time for blogging not so much.

I wanted to wish you all a happy September 30th! Today is my favourite day of the year, it's a perfect day, not too summer and not too fall. The leaves changing colours (even though in this province they're all yellow!) the air crisp with northern winds but still bringing sunny daytime highs in the 20's. The sky is the perfect shade of blue. Not too bright or too cloudy, or too unclear. A boy once told me my eyes look like a morning sky and it was in September so that makes the blue of the sky that much more my favourite. :)

I spent today at work sadly, although on the way out the door I looked to the left at the corner and saw the bell tower of La Belle Notte outlined by the sun that was not yet too high in the sky, it was very pretty and reminded me of the beauty of creation. I enjoyed my walk to work today. I had a nice lunch and left work on time for once. I went to a play at the University tonight, it was quite good, and I connected with some old friends. It was a very good day. Also I finally have a kitchen table in my house and my bookcases in my room! By the end of the weekend I should be all organized and ready to start living all on my own. :)

I hope your day was as enjoyable as mine!

Dog in jail

So did you hear? Dog the Bounty Hunter got arrested for bounty hunting in Mexico! Apparently down there bounty hunting is an illegal crime. The funny part is though that the "hunt" in question took place 3 years ago on one of his televised shows. That's the justice system at work for ya.

The article:

Duane "Dog" Chapman Was Barkin' Up The Wrong Tree
By Mike Baron
Sep 24, 2006

Duane "Dog" Chapman, TV's 'Bounty Hunter,' was barkin' up the wrong tree when he went bounty hunting in Mexico. Chapman is now trying to cut a deal to avoid extradition to Mexico. Duane "Dog" Chapman is hoping to escape charges of illegal detention and conspiracy in his apprehension of a cosmetics company heir there three years ago, his lawyer indicated.

According to the AP, bounty hunting is considered a crime in Mexico.

Chapman and his two co-stars on the show "Dog The Bounty Hunter," were arrested and jailed in Hawaii last week. Chapman, his son Leland Chapman and Timothy Chapman were brought into custody on suspicion of illegal detention and conspiracy.

Mona K. Wood, publicist for Chapman's show Dog The Bounty Hunter, insists he will be vindicated, "He arrests the bad guys - and he is definitely not one of them."

The charges date back to Chapman's apprehension of Max Factor heir Andrew Luster in Puerto Villarta, Mexico, in 2003. Luster had fled the Us after being convicted of raping three women, and his capture catapulted Chapman to fame and led to his show being commissioned.

Us Marshals spokeswoman Nikki Credic says the trio face extradition to Mexico. They were arrested shortly after Luster's capture and released on bail, but they failed to return for court hearings in Puerto Villarta. Mexican authorities wanted Luster turned over to them in 2003, but Chapman refused.

The U.S. Attorney's Office has until Oct. 16 to file the needed paperwork in support of their extradition, but Chapman's attorney, Brook Hart, hopes to resolve the issue before then.

According to the AP reports, Chapman indicated that he would be willing to offer an apology, pay a fine, forfeit the bail he posted in Mexico and make a charitable contribution, Hart said.

'Dog' posted close to $1,300 bond for his release, and based on "flawed legal advice" thought he was free to leave the country and Mexican authorities would have no further interest in him, Hart added.

Chapman and his family spoke out last week, TMZ.com has it.

Song of the Week

"God Bless the American Housewife" - SheDaisy

Look at me, I'm gorgeous in my housecoat with my coffee cup
I bend to get the paper, every neighbor's tryin' to check me out
Look at me, I'm lovely as I wave beside my minivan
Look at how my diamonds seem to sparkle on the garbage can

Chorus:
God bless the American housewife
How she does it I'll never know
God bless the American housewife
She could use a miracle for sure
God bless the American housewife
Cleanin' up the world for you and me
God bless the American housewife
(Ah ah ah ah ah)

Look at how my children play Commando in the cul-de-sac
Look at how my husband has survived another heart attack
Look at all the other mothers envious of all my things
Have to call the plummer 'cause my daughter flushed my wedding ring

(Repeat Chorus)

Bridge:
Look at me, I'm beautiful and glamorous in rubber gloves
Look how my tiara can be bent back to the shape it was
I can do the laundry and make dinner while I'm on the phone
Look at me, I'm sexy as the devil when I mow the lawn

Chorus 2x

How she does it I'll never know
God bless the American housewife

Left Behind, the hit series of books by Christian writers Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins is coming out as a video game in early November! I'm so stoked!

The game will ship to stores in time for Christmas." - http://www.leftbehind.com/

Song of the Week

"The Captain and the Kid"- Elton John

I’ve been out on this road some
Can’t help feeling I’ve been showing my friends around
I’ve seen it growing from next to nothing
Into a giant eating up your town

Called up the tealeaves and the tarots
Asked the gypsy what she sees in the palm of our hands
She saw a mountain and wild deer running
A crazy kid becoming a better man

But we stuck around for the fireworks
Waiting to explode
Shaped our futures, you a tumbleweed
And me on a yellow brick road
Pleasing the people some of the time
For better or for worse
An urban soul in a fine silk Suit
And a heart out west in a Wrangler shirt

And you can’t go back and If you try it fails
Looking up ahead I see a rusty nail
A sign hanging from it saying, “Truth for sale”
And that’s what we did
No lies at all just one more tale
About the Captain and the Kid

We’ve been missing at times in action
Can’t imagine what he said he might do for you
The devil got to come to the party sometimes
But he never got to wear our shoes

Oh we’ve conjured up what we created
Way back then when I was standing up in six-inch heels
Now you’re riding off into the sunset
And I’m still spinning like a Catherine wheel

But we stuck around for the battle
Waiting for a plan
To turn you into the Brown Dirt Cowboy
And me into a rocket man
It pleases the people some of the time
Digging into our roots
But I got a brand new pair of shoes
And you’re on a horse in old cowboy boots

And you can’t go back and if you try it fails
Looking up ahead I see a rusty nail
A sign hanging from it saying “Truth for sale”
And that’s just what we did
No lies at all just one more tale
About the Captain and the Kid

And you can’t go back and if you try it fails
Looking up ahead I see a rusty nail
A sign hanging from it saying “Truth for sale”
And that’s just what we did
No lies at all just one more tale
About the Captain and the Kid

DNS stack in Win2000

Windows 2000 WMI DNS Provider

DNS WMI Provider creates and populates WMI classes, which reference information contained in DNS zones and their resource records. The provider can be used to manipulate DNS servers, zones, and individual records. All necessary files are downloadable from the Microsoft FTP Site at ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/reskit/win2000/dnsprov.zip.

To install the provider, after extracting the content of the zip file, copy the dnsschema.mof to %systemroot%\system32\wbem\mof folder. The file should get automatically compiled and moved to the Good subfolder. Then copy the dnsprov.dll to the %systemroot%\system32\wbem folder and register it with the operating system by running: regsvr32 dnsprov.dll. You should get the confirmation of the successfull registration.

You can review the classes created by the MOF file compilation by either checking the documentation provided with the source files or by running any of the utilities included with WMI SDK (such as CIM WMI Studio) or WbemTest.exe, available on any computer with WMI installed (any Windows 2000 computer). DNS Provider populates a separate namespace in the WMI hierarchy - root\MicrosoftDNS. The namespace contains about 30 DNS related classes.

Along with the provider dll and MOF file, the downloaded zip file contains several VBScript examples, which allow you to accomplish most of the DNS related management tasks. For example, dnsserver.vbs can be used to:

- stop DNS server
cscript //nologo dnsserver.vbs stop

- start DNS server
cscript //nologo dnsserver.vbs start < - restart DNS server cscript //nologo dnsserver.vbs restart - list DNS server configuration cscript //nologo dnsserver.vbs LIST - list zones on the DNS server cscript //nologo dnsserver.vbs zone - modify the configuration of the DNS server cscript //nologo dnsserver.vbs modify With dnszones.vbs, you can create, modify, add, delete, pause, update, resume, reload, and refresh DNS zones. dnsrecord.vbs allows you to add, delete, modify, and list resource records. http://www.serverwatch.com/tutorials/article.php/1476601

TiVo & PVR

The days of VCR's is coming to an end only to be replaced by these neat little devices knonw as TiVo or PVR's or DVR's (depending who your provider is). Basically they allow you to record real time shows for late viewing (like a VCR) but they also allow u to pause a show in the middle of it, or fast forward or rewind said show all in real time.

This is a great invention, although like most great inventions it has it's pros & cons:

Pros:
- ability to watch a show at your leisure, allowing for interuptions
- ability to record shows while you are out for later viewing
- ability to set recording times on continuous so it will ALWAYS record your show for you
- ability to fast forward over commercials if you start watching a show five minutes later that it's actual start time.

Cons:
- It can now take twice as long to watch a half hour show as when a family of five sits down inevitably a few will need to pee and thus the show will be paused
- It will not record your show if it is at a slightly later time or a game runs overtime into your show's time unless u tell it to tape ALL occurences of the show on every channel
- There is no way to get the information off the PVRs except having a TV card in your computer with S video in and out
- It allows people to be lazy and watch more TV because they can watch it at their convenience with no fuss, no dealing with "remembering to record a show" it's just there for them.

SunRocket VoIP

A customer calls me at work the other day and is having infinite amount of trouble with her computers network, she is calling from her cell phone so we procede to powercycle all her equipment (turn it off and on again.) She says she has no router, I believe her, but her computer doesn't work.

The IP addy is a 192, so there is obviously a router, after much inquisition it is determined she has VoIP by SunRocket. Now I've never heard of this company but she says she has lots of problems with the router and I suggest she call SunRocket. She says she can't, she doesn't know the number.

I of course think that I perhaps can find the number for her, so I check our knowledge base, nothing. So I google it, it brings up webpages, all of which are dead links! Not surf controlled, or being maitenanced but dead.

I came home and checked the site again thinking it was some kind of surfcontrol at work, nothing, nothing on any of the sunrocket.com sites. nothing of any value when you googled "sunrocket+support" just nothing. So this woman was left to try to find the manual that came with her original router and I was left frustrated.

So the long and short of this tale is that if I were you I WOULD NOT go with SunRocket VoIP!

*note, I have since tried the website again and it is again functioning. the tech support # is 1-800-786-0132.

9/11

Where were you on 9/11? It was one of those unique moments in history where everyone who was aware of the event, Nort Americans in particular, can tell about where they were at that moment. Other such moment include the moon landing, the assasination of JFK, the death of princess Di and other such monumental events they will undoubtedly be remembered as factors shaping that age.

I was at Bible College in the coffee shop having a job interview for housekeeping. The TV came on and there was a large group of people gathered around it watching. I have to tell you I didn't understand the magnitude of the situation at the time and thought perhaps the explosion was part of a hoax or a movie and I thought it looked really "cool" as one does when any good Hollywood explosion happens. Later I felt very guilty for my naivety over the tragedy I was seeing unfold.

I don't think that people would be wrong in saying that event help shaped our generation. Now airport security is at an all-time high, now there is a "war on terrorism and everyone is on the alert for "terrorists". That's the word all over the news, even today, "terrorism". It's sad that we've become such a paranoid society and it's even sadder that we have due cause to be so paranoid.

"Have You Forgotten" - Darryl Worley

I hear people sayin'. We Don't need this war.
I say there's some things worth fightin' for.
What about our freedom, and this piece of ground?
We didn't get to keep 'em by backin' down.
They say we don't realize the mess we're gettin' in
Before you start preachin' let me ask you this my friend.

Chorus
Have you forgotten, how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten, when those towers fell
We had neighbors still inside goin through a livin hell
And you say we shouldn't worry bout Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

You took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it's too disturbin for you and me
It'll just breed anger is what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it everyday
Some say this country just out lookin' for a fight
Well after 9/11 man I'd have to say right.

Chorus
Have you forgotten, how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell
We had neighbors still inside goin' through a livin' hell
And we vow to get the ones behind Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

I've been there with the soldiers
Who've gone away to war
you can bet they remember just what they're fightin' for

Have you forgotten
All the people killed
Yes some went down like heroes
In that Pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten
About our Pentagon
All the loved ones that we lost
And those left to carry on
Don't you tell me not to worry 'bout Bin Laden

Have you forgotten?

Have you forgotten?

Have you forgotten?!

HELP US SAVE THE INTREPID FOX!

Hey guys, this is a re-post from my friend Willow's blog, if you all could sign the petition at the end I'd appreciat it.

From: Willow (http://www.xanga.com/WillowSynRavyn)
Those of you who know me may be aware that I'm pretty serious into the alternative scene. The main focal point of the scene, for myself and many others, is the Intrepid Fox pub, located at 99 Wardour Street, Soho. Not only is this a thriving business, but it is also where my church is located.

My church, Asylum (www.asylumlondon.com) is a ministry geared toward those in the alternative scene...punks, goths, bikers, metallers, rockers, skinheads etc etc. It's a very important and unique ministry that certainly has merit.

Due to the excessive redevelopment of the west end, the block on which the Intrepid Fox is located has been bought and will be redeveloped into flats. This means that Asylum will have to find a new home. What is worse, the manager and his wife who have lived above the pub for 17 years have been told to vacate the premesis on three weeks notice. They have been given three weeks to start their life from scratch. The Fox is literally their home and their livelyhood, and it was not their decision for the pub to be sold.

This also means that the entire staff of the Fox have been left jobless.

On top of all this, there are very few venues like the Fox where people in the scene can go and feel comfortable. I for one get turned away from venues because I typically dress "too alternatively", so the Fox provides a safe and comfortable atmosphere for not only me, but for hundreds of other alternative people. Without the Fox we will be left to our own devices, which I'm sure nobody wants.

Below I have postedm, below, a link for a petition that is going around in an attempt to reverse this decision. I have also posted a link to a piece that was in the Evening Standard regarding the Fox. It says a lot of good things.

Above all, please pray for the manager and his wife, the staff of the Fox, the patrons and for Asylum.

Thanks Everyone!!Fox Petition!

Machismo

A friend of mine from Japan asked me what the word "machismo" meant when I used it in a sentence. Now there's something I'd never really thought about... what does machismo mean? I guess it means like bravado, another word that sounds good and means little. Perhaps it means manliness, acting out like a man should, there's another loose phrase. Okay then how about brave and strong and powerful, but that doesn't really do it justice either... So I, of course, turned to my good friend Wikipedia to find out what this word actually "means"

The long and short of it is that it is a word originating in the Mexican, meaning:

"2 A man who considers the masculine sex as naturally superior to the feminine, glorifies those traits traditionally ascribed to men and seeks to control and dominate women or to demonstrate his strength, virility, etc., to them [ellas] and to other men: Mexican macho, "Take it like the machos!" 3 Someone who is brave, strong or demonstrates some of the traits traditionally ascribed to men: "I am very macho, sons of the chingada!", a very macha woman 4 A lo macho [in a macho manner] (coloq.) without guile or trickery, with bravery: "Are you telling it to me a lo macho?" 5 A man, specially when seeking to emphasize his sexuality: "He came back made a macho tall and strong..."

So there you have it. LOL!

"Losing ground in the battle of the bulge"

I found this study on obesity in Canada over the past 25 years, as is not surprising obesity rates have gone up in children. A few particularly interesting parts of the article:

"Let’s all turn back the clock to that mythical time when kids started the day doing chores before eating a healthy breakfast and then walking five kilometres to school – uphill, in a snowstorm. Back then, kids ended the day walking five kilometres home from school – again uphill – to do some more chores. "

"Fast forward to 1979. It’s the beginning of what would turn out to be the 25-year-long Canadian Community Health Survey, which looked at obesity in children and adults. "

"At the beginning of the study, three per cent of children between the ages of two and 17 were considered obese. Among adults, the rate was 14 per cent. "

"At the end of the study in 2004, those rates were substantially higher. Among children, nine per cent were considered obese. Another 20 per cent were considered overweight, meaning that almost 30 per cent of youngsters were dealing with weight problems. "

"The survey found that children and adolescents who reported eating fruits and vegetables five or more times a day were substantially less likely to be overweight or obese than those who consumed them less frequently. Forty-one per cent of children and adolescents reported they ate at least five servings of fruit and vegetables a day.

Not surprisingly, the survey also found kids between the ages of six and 17 were more likely to be obese if they spent a lot of their spare time watching TV, playing video games or using the computer. "

"Meanwhile, another study found that Old Order Mennonite children tend to be fitter, stronger and leaner than other Canadian kids – even despite a lack of phys-ed classes or organized sports.

The children also don’t have access to video games, computers and television. What they do have access to is up to 18 minutes more of moderate or vigorous physical activity per day compared to most other children.

They also have access to regular chores. "

"As part of its Healthy Children Healthy Futures child health initiative, the Strang Cancer Prevention Center in New York City has come up with its eight habits of healthy kids. They are:
• Spend at least one hour a day being physically active.
• Spend less than two hours a day watching TV and playing video and computer games.
• Eat at least five fruits and vegetables a day.
• Snack more on healthy foods and less on junk foods and sweets.
• Drink or eat at least three low fat dairy foods a day.
• Drink at least two glasses/bottles of water a day instead of soft drinks.
• Eat less fast food (no more than twice a week) and make healthier fast food choices.
• Eat smaller portions.

Health Canada’s Family Guide to Physical Activity for children lays out two goals:
• Increase the time currently spent on physical activity by a total of at least 30 minutes per day. • Reduce “non-active” time spent on TV, video, computer games and surfing the internet, starting with at least 30 minutes less per day."

"The guide suggests that increasing physical activity by 30 minutes a day is a lot easier than it sounds. It can be done in bouts as short as five or 10 minutes each. "

"The key is to get people moving. "

Steve Irwin's Dead?

Steve Irwin, fondly known as the Crocodile Hunter died yesterday in a freak accident. I used the term "freak" quite liberally here. More accurate might be to say "he died doing something he loved". He was stung in the chest by a stingray that was spooked while he was filming a television program on the Great Barrier Reef off far north Queensland . Irwin allegedly pulled the barb from his own chest before slipping into unconsciousness.

I hope that he died saying "Crikey" or at least surprised that the stingray, that is a known poisonous creature, would have attacked a human unprovoked in the good Steve Irwin fashion.

Song of the Week

"Living Together" - Amy Dalley

Pay the bills
cut the grass
someone forgot the trash
ohh the talks we've had
about the toilet seat
a few anniversarys
fights and appologies
sometimes what love needs is
a good referee

I'm his best friend
I'm his roommate
I'm his partner and his wife
He's my stand in date for dinner
who stays over every night

Bein married ain't the struggle
we could stay that way forever
the hardest part is
living together

Pile of clothes
stack of plates
who's turn is it anyway
that frozen chicken egg
ain't gonna cook itself
how much did that cost
who forgot to walk the dog
ones about to freeze to death
ones about to melt

I'm his best friend
I'm his roommate
I'm his partner and his wife
He's my stand in date for dinner
who stays over every night

Bein married ain't the struggle
we could stay that way forever
the hardest part is
living together

It's beautiful
but sadly
it passion and it's don't touch me
it's bein stubborn
it's givin in
and waking up to do it all again

I'm his best friend
I'm his roommate
I'm his partner and his wife
He's my stand in date for dinner
who stays over every night

Bein married ain't the struggle
we could stay that way forever
the hardest part is
living together

519 area code

Where I'm from in Ontario, Cambridge, the area code is (and always has been) 519. In an upsetting turn of events Bell has decided to assign a 2nd area code to the area as it has grown to exceed the amount of numbers in the 519 area code. Because of this whenever dialing a local number we now have to dial 519 before the number.

The truly ironic part is that no one knows what the new area code will be, nor will it take affect til next year so right now dialing 10 digits for every call is not only annoying, but redundant.

Harper's Magazine

My cousin got in as an art interm at Harper's magazine. Apparently her name is going to be listed in the credits. I'm quite stoked for her.

Problem is I haven't ever read Harper's magazine and I don't really know what kind of a mag it is... so I looked into it.

"Harper's Magazine (or simply Harper's) is a monthly general-interest magazine covering literature, politics, culture, finance, and the arts from a progressive, moderate left perspective in a fashion often not found in the ordinary news-media. It is the second oldest continuously-published monthly magazine (the oldest magazine being Scientific American) in the United States, with a current circulation of slightly more than 220,000.[1] Its editor is Roger Hodge, who replaced longtime editor Lewis Lapham on March 31, 2006.[2] Harper's has won numerous National Magazine and other awards.[3]"

Fun with Mousetraps

Here we have a site devoted to the fun that can be had with mousetraps... the power of the mousetrap (apparently when not used to capture small rodents).

The author claims as a kid he didn't have many toys so he made his own out of found objects, including mouse traps. He made cannons, fireworks, cars, etc. Now there is a website covering such oddities and giving instructions so you can do it yourself.

Still confused? Yeah I was too... here's a picture

Happy 13 to my Boo!

My baby sister Boo turned 13 today! It's quite traumatizing to me to think that my little baby is going to be a woman soon. She's finally out of her awkward tween years and into the even more awkward teen ones. Soon it will be high school & boys, fitting in, not standing out (too much), being popular, getting the grade, getting the guy. It's all so harried.

I look back on my high school days, they really were some of the best years of my life, not to sound too cliche of course. They were also full of a lot of crap. Part of me wishes that I could go back and do it again with the knowledge I have now. As I can't I'm going to pass on some of the life lessons I've learned in the hopes that it will help my Boo get through her teen years.

• You are only young once, enjoy it while you can
• It is only four years and then it will all be over and you'll probably never see these people again
• Everyone has bad hair, face, make-up, clothes days' the trick is laughing them off and moving on
• The only way you get what you want in this life is by going for, no holding back
• Just because you think the guy you like knows you like him doesn't mean he does, make it known if you want him that bad fight for him
• When high school is over and done you still have your whole life ahead of you, anything that happens isn't the end of the world
• The popular kids weren't always popular they had to earn it, if that's what you want you can earn it to
• Don't label people, just be yourself, if you require a lable choose your own, don't let others label you
• Grades are important but so is having fun, find a balance
• If you think you'll look back ten years from now and regret passing up an opportunity, don't pass it up
• If you think you'll regreat something ten years from not don't do it
• Cherish the friends you have for the time they are in your life, friend come and go, it's the way it is, don't cry because it's over when it happnes, smile because it happened
• Family will always be there, even when friends are not
• Good high school grades help you get into a good University and that helps you get a degree, once you have that degree they will never ask if you were a D or A student, always remember that
• He may be your first love, he may be your only love, but then again he may not be, never bet everything on a man
• Don't let anyone talk you into doing something you don't want to do, you have to live with the consequences, they don't
• Don't do something just because someone thinks you should, do it because you want to do it

Lego Church

After posting yesterday's blog I remembered a fwd I received. It depicts the Lego church. It's quite impressive so I'm going to post it.

The Lego Church:
How long to build it? It was about a year and a half of planning, building and photographing.
How many pieces of LEGO to build it? more than 75,000
How big is it? About 7 feet by 5 1/2 feet by 30 inches (2.2 m x 1.7 m x .76 m)
How many LEGO people does it seat? 1,372
How many windows? 3,976

It features a balcony, a Narthex, stairs to the balcony, restrooms, coat rooms, several mosaics, a nave, a baptistry, an altar, a crucifix, a pulpit and an elaborate pipe organ.
